California Girl, 2012

A performance conceived for the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, "California Girl" involved the subverting of of the "gaze" through the consumption of gender, fruit, and Americana. As "California Girls" by the Beach Boys played, I ate oranges with the skin on, while lounging in a large plexi orange crate, wearing a male-gendered "bathing suit" shirt.
